3 September – 5 September 2010
Exhibition at Kunsthuis Syb, Beetsterzwaag (NL)
With works made during Van Loon’s residency.
During her working period she developed floating sculptures that she then took into the landscape. For this ‘fieldwork’ Van Loon took Alexander Graham Bell’s sketches for the first airplane, around 1900, as a point of reference.
The exhibition includes a work by Takako Hamano, who Van Loon invited to work in SYB during the last two weeks of the project period. In SYB, Hamano will reflect on her recent stay in the Japanese landscape, while Van Loon reflects on the Frisian landscape.
As a second special guest Van Loon invited Erik de Jong for an ongoing conversation during her working period. De Jong is extraordinary professor of Culture, Landscape and Nature at the Faculty of Humanities in the University of Amsterdam.
Presentation: Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September, 13h – 17h
Closing event: Sunday 5 September 16h
